Use a hair dryer to heat all sides of the iPad's display for about two minutes in preparation for prying it open.

Note: Don't forget to power down your iPad before doing this.

Use an opening pick or plastic card to slide along the edge of the display to slowly pry it open.

Note: This step requires patience and do not use too much force.

Uncover the screen and place the outer screen at a 90-degree angle.

• Unscrew the four screws at the four corners of the inner screen.
• Slowly lift up the inner screen.

• Use a spudger to disconnect the inner screen cable connector as shown.
• Detach and remove the inner screen.

• Use a spudger to disconnect the outer screen cable connector as shown.
• Use tweezers to gently unplug the ribbon cable.
• Detach and remove the outer screen.

Remove the single screw securing the battery.

Use the hair dryer to heat the back cover of the iPad for about 2 minutes to prepare for removing the battery.

Use a plastic spatula to slowly remove the battery.

Note: If the battery is difficult to remove, use a little alcohol or adhesive remover.

• Use a spudger to gently lift up on the logic board.
• Remove the old battery.

Note: When using the spudger to lift the logic board, lift only slightly to make it easier to remove the battery.

• Install the battery, screws and connectors in reverse order.
• Install the inner and outer screens.
• Turn on the iPad and test it.
