Before starting, make sure your Macbook is fully powered off and unplugged from any power source. Use the right tools—typically a screwdriver set included in the package—and work on a non-conductive surface to prevent static electricity damage.
This tutorial will guide you in detail how to remove the Apple A1496 / MacBook Air 13" A1466 A1405 battery. You can watch the tutorial video below.
Step 3
Disconnect the Battery Connector
Grab the clear plastic pull tab attached to the battery connector and pull it parallel to the board toward the front edge of your Macbook.
Please NOTE: Do not lift upward on the connector as you disconnect it or you risk damage to the connector socket.
Step 4
Remove the Screws on the Battery
Using a T5 Torx screwdriver, remove the five screws securing the battery.
Step 5
Lift and Remove the Battery
- Lift the battery from its edge nearest the logic board and remove it.
- Your replacement battery might come with a thin plastic film on its top surface. Remove this film when you install the battery. However, if it appears to be firmly glued and difficult to remove, it’s best to leave it in place.
Please NOTE: If your MacBook shows any irregular behavior after installing the new battery, consider resetting the SMC (System Management Controller) to resolve the issue.
