Before starting, make sure your device is completely powered off and unplugged. Use the proper tools if needed (usually included in the package). Do not force anything—if you're unsure, seek help from a professional.
This tutorial will guide you in detail how to remove the Apple A1494 / MacBook Pro 15" Retina A1398 (Late 2013-Mid 2014) battery.
Step 2
Remove the Screws on the Battery
Using a T5 Torx screwdriver, remove the two screws securing the battery to the logic board.
NOTE: If this area is covered with a battery warning label, remove it first.
Step 3
Disconnect the Battery Connector
Gently disconnect the battery from the logic board from bottom to top.
NOTE: Be careful with this step or you may damage the connector socket.
Step 4
Remove the Battery
Use a plastic spatula or a spudger to gently lift the battery until it is completely removed.
NOTE: If the battery is difficult to remove, use alcohol or adhesive remover to dissolve the adhesive on the back.
Step 5
Install the New Battery
Place the new battery into the battery compartment and install it in the reverse order of the above steps.
Please NOTE: If your MacBook shows any irregular behavior after installing the new battery, consider resetting the SMC (System Management Controller) to resolve the issue.
