This tutorial will guide you in detail how to remove the Apple A1382 / MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Early 2011-Mid 2012) / A1286 (EMC 2556/2563/2353-1) battery.
Step 1
Remove the Bottom Case
- Using a P5 Pentalobe screwdriver, remove the ten screws securing the bottom case.
- Gently remove the bottom case.
Tips: Shut down and close your MacBook. Lay it on a soft surface top-side down.
Step 2
Disconnect the Battery Connector
Use a spudger to gently pry the battery connector upward to disconnect it from its socket on the logic board.
Step 3
Remove the Screws on the Battery
Remove the three screws on the battery as shown.
Step 4
Remove the Battery
Use the attached plastic pull tab to remove the battery from the upper case.
Step 5
Install the New Battery
Place the new battery into the battery compartment and install it in the reverse order of the above steps.
Note: If you notice any unusual problems after installing your new battery, you may need to reset your MacBook's SMC.
